Experience Impressionism at the Château d'Auvers-sur-Oise

The building, erected in 1635 for a banker belonging to Marie de Medici's entourage, has retained few traces of its original Italian style. Transformed into a French château, it underwent numerous modifications over time, passing through the hands of several owners who added their personal touch to the architecture. The château inspired Van Gogh to paint a picture shortly before the artist's death in the town of Auvers-sur-Oise. Eminent figures of the Impressionist style such as Cézanne, Pissaro and Monet visited the Vallée d'Oise in their time, which was strongly influenced by the pictorial movement at the time.

The château became an art interpretation center in 1994, after being purchased by the Val d'Oise General Council in 1987, and has been given a new lease of life as an art gallery. Several parts of the building are listed as historic monuments, and it hosts spectacular exhibitions showcasing the Impressionist style, its origins, and its influences. Garden lovers will also be charmed by the exceptional location of its five-hectare park, overlooking the Oise Valley. Featuring splendid French gardens, other Italian-inspired or English-influenced areas, the park also boasts some superb and remarkable floral creations.

The renovation undertaken in the early 1990s by the General Council allowed the building to install reception rooms available for rent in certain parts of the château. The premises can accommodate up to two hundred people, and weddings or corporate seminars are organized there in adaptable spaces, with the château also offering a range of services. With user comfort in mind, Collinet furniture was chosen to furnish the reception rooms, including Quadra dining tables and Merryl chairs, selected for their practicality and modern design. The château's rich history, beauty, and modernity make it a privileged venue for events!

The Château d'Auvers invites you to discover the virtuoso palettes of the great masters of Impressionism in the heart of an exceptional monument. Don't miss the sumptuous gardens and the 18th-century Nymphaeum in the north orangery.
